February 2 is World Wetlands Day every year. This is a day to raise awareness of the importance of preserving wetlands. This day is an opportunity to encourage Scouts to participate in conservation efforts.

This is a good day to promote the World Conservation Award. There are three versions of this award:
Very young conservationists might enjoy reading about the wetlands in About Habitats: Wetlands. Older youth can watch American Experience: The Swamp to learn about the Florida Everglades and efforts to preserve the wetlands.
